Katayoon Zandvakili
Katayoon paints from the heart, composing her paintings like she does her novels, working through layer upon layer of big splashes of color (oil, ink, pencil, glitter, you name it) until she reaches the joy.
Her earliest inspirations were Dürer, Rembrandt, and Fractured Fairytales, everything magical and sublime.
Katayoon has studied painting at Sarah Lawrence College in New York, and at CCA and Painting from the Wild Heart in California. Her work has appeared in group shows at The Barbara Anderson Gallery, with one piece currently on display at The Greenlining Institute’s Seed Corn Gallery in Berkeley until the end of December. She also has work being exhibited at 3571 Mt. Diablo Blvd., Lafayette, CA 94549 until mid-September. Throughout November, her paintings will be on display at the Moraga Library, 1500 St. Mary’s Road, Moraga, CA 94556.
